How often should I float to get the benefits?

Single and first floats can often be profound. However, there can be a bit of a learning curve requiring a few floats to feel totally comfortable. Floating also has powerful cumulative effects and is becoming recognized as an essential part of an optimal ongoing wellness practice. Floating 1 to 2 times a month is amazing and once a week will superchange you long term physical, mental, and spiritual health.

How will floating help me?

Modern life is stressful, traffic, deadlines, constant connection to technology, notifications, inboxes , not enough sleep, replenishing ourselves in body, mind, and soul is an essential part of modern wellness. Floating reduces stress, promotes relaxation, improves sleep, and gives us all a chance to unplug and recharge.

What if I am claustrophobic?

Our float tanks are incredibly spacious, 8 feet long and 4 feet wide – plenty of room to stretch out.

Once inside without visual parameters, the space becomes open and vast. Also, like a room in your own home, you can leave the door to your float tank open, and you can exit the tank whenever you wish. You have total control over your comfort.

I can’t swim, will I float?

Yes, you will definitely float! The ability to swim is not necessary as absolutely everyone floats without effort. The saltwater will support a weight of 1000+ pounds.

What if I fall asleep?

Many guests love to fall asleep in the relaxing world of a float tank. In fact, 1 hour of rest in the tank is anecdotally reported as the equivalent of 4 hours of deep restful sleep. Also, because of the high salt content, you will float safely whether you’re awake or asleep.

What about shaving?

Ideally, don’t shave at least 8 hours before your float. The salty water can be irritating or itchy if you do.

I just colored my hair, is it ok to float?

We recommend waiting at least one week to let the color fully set. We don’t want the salt affecting the color, or the color bleeding into the water. If the color is not rinsing out when you shower, it’s usually fine to float.

What if I am pregnant?

Floating is safe during pregnancy, but we must insist you consult your healthcare provider first. Many Moms are enjoying a break from carrying baby’s extra weight and an hour of deep relaxation

What about cuts and scrapes? New piercing or tattoos?

The Salt water can sting wounds, so we provide packets of petroleum jelly in each room to cover any problem areas. New piercings or tattoos should be fully healed before floating.

What is the temperature of the water?

It’s 95 degrees Fahrenheit, which is the same temperature as the surface of your skin. It’s neither warm nor cold, but rather neutral by design. After a short adjustment time, you can’t tell where the skin stops and water starts – you really feel like you’re floating!

What is the need for Epsom salt?

The 1,200 pounds of USP Epsom salt dissolved in just 10 inches of water is what creates the effortless part of floating. No matter your size, when you recline into the warm water, your body will float like a cork.

How is the water purified between floats?

The high concentration of salt creates a very hostile environment for all sorts of germs and bacteria. But more importantly, the water is run through a filtration and purification process for 15 minutes before and after every guest, Each system utilizes a large pool filter, food-grade (35%) hydrogen peroxide, and a very robust ultra-violet sterilizer.

How big is the tank?

Our float tanks are 8 feet long and 4 feet wide. They’re spacious and you’re able to stretch out, sit up, and enjoy the feeling of weightlessness.

Why should I arrive 10mins early?

If it’s your first time at DreamFloat, our attendants will walk you through the process and answer any questions you need. Most guests also like to visit the restroom before heading into the tank.

Should I bring a bathing suit?

Large majority of guests (99%) float nude and the reason for the heftiness of our filtration system. Neathing with floating is the water is warmed to the outside temperature of your skin. After an adjustment time, you can’t feel where the skin stops and water starts – you really feel like you’re floating! It’s just a sensation you wouldn’t experience with swimwear.

We do have a small population of regulars who float with trunks and share they feel great too. So really, it’s up to your level of comfort.

This service is exclusively at our Dream Float location in St. Marys,
